Dry & Dehydrated Skin Care

Understanding dry facial skin

Dry skin on the face often appears as tightness, rough texture, flaking or dullness. It occurs when the skin barrier struggles to retain enough moisture, leaving the complexion feeling uncomfortable or more sensitive to environmental stress. Factors such as cold weather, heating, ageing and harsh skincare products can all contribute to dryness and make the skin feel less smooth or supple.

Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, dry skin and dehydrated skin are different concerns. Dry skin is a skin type characterised by a lack of natural oils, while dehydrated skin is a condition caused by a lack of water in the skin. Both can occur together, particularly when the skin barrier becomes weakened.
