Tell us more about your skin – what is your skin type, main skin concern and future skin goals?

Luckily in the past few years, I have been able to really control my main skin concern, which was acne (and the oil production that caused it). Although I would still always classify my skin as acne-prone, it is now more normal/combination.

Although my acne is now non-existent, the scarring and pigmentation left behind can sometimes get me down. I notice this more when I apply makeup, as I feel like it highlights the texture of my skin, but it does cover my pigmentation. I know from experience that I have to be more sun-safe because although my pigmentation is melasma as opposed to sun damage, the sun does accentuate it. Evening my skin texture and tone is my main goal now and also to maintain my skin’s health.

With your skin type do you tend to use toners and masks or steer clear for fear of breaking out?

I love toners and I love how they have evolved from the astringent ones from way back. I implement a toner into my routine in two ways:

1) I use a hydrating one daily

2) I use an active containing (usually a combination of AHAs and BHA) one to exfoliate once a week.

Masks are a product I tend to use every now and then, more as a pamper product when I want to do a bit of self-care and relax. I tend to use a variety of masks depending on how my skin is feeling at the present time I am wanting to apply.

Tell us what you think about the AMELIORATE Resurfacing Facial Toner?

I love gentle liquid toners, which the Resurfacing Facial Toner definitely is! I did, however, expect it to be clear in colour like all the ones I have used before but it has a milky colour to it. I personally prefer to use a product like this just once a week after my evening cleanse so when I wake up in the morning, I notice how much my skin glows due to the inclusion of BHA/AHA.

The toner is gentle enough for even sensitive skin types (which mine can be) and compared to others I have used, it didn’t feel too harsh or stripping. I even have some texture on my chest, which this product worked perfectly on.

Tell us what you think about the AMELIORATE Resurfacing Facial Mask?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always expect masks to be really thick and rich which is why I tend to stay away from them or not apply them too frequently. The Resurfacing Facial mask is a really light creamy texture, more like a rich moisturiser and it smells DIVINE. I would sit it next to the Sunday Riley Jetlag mask but with the inclusion of AHA/PHA, as well as the unique LaH6, so your skin looks radiant afterwards (like after having an in-clinic facial)

Could you share your expert insight into our LaH6 Skin Hydrating formula, how it works, and what it helps?

LaH6 is a combination of powerhouses which work together to improve dry, dehydrated and rough skin without stripping or negatively impacting the skin’s natural barrier. My two favourite ingredients in the formula are allantoin and lactic acid; okay maybe three – add urea in there too. I am still waiting for allantoin to have its big social media break, as not a lot of people talk about the ingredient or even know what it is. Most people nowadays, in a bid to help their skin, actually end up causing more harm than good. Allantoin has soothing and hydrating properties which can help to restore and replenish compromised skin – a total underdog! Lactic acid is another underdog, as I feel that most people just label it as the AHA for exfoliating sensitive skin types, which is correct, but it should also be known for its hydrating properties too. The LaH6 formula is the perfect way to gently exfoliate but deeply hydrate skin.

As a skin specialist, which skin concerns do you see and hear most?

Because I specialise in acne this is the main concern I see daily but along with acne comes post-inflammatory erythema/hyperpigmentation as well as scarring. As I have walked in the shoes of most of my clients, I can fully empathise with how they are feeling and am a walking advert of knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It can be disheartening when clients don’t see progress as quickly as they like however I am always there to reassure them and encourage them when they are feeling like they aren’t getting anywhere. Everyone’s journey is different and while some clients see results in a matter of weeks, for others it can take a couple of years. I am a huge advocate of progress over perfection as perfection doesn’t exist.
